Jane,
You were far and away the most talented performer ever to grace the stage of the "coffee house" in Fitchburg.
I met you there in the late 70's and loved your music. Now that I have rediscovered you, I will continue to be a fan. You have an amazing talent and I hope you continue to amaze us with your talent.

Jane,

I met you at Picasso's a few month's ago. I mentioned that Iwrote a swing song. Do you have any advice on copywrite and recording. Would you like to hear it?

Thanks!

I just read your lesson in the latest issue of Premier Guitar, and wanted to thank you for some great examples of V-I resolutions. It's always interesting to see someone elses point of view on chordal movement. Keep 'em comin', I love it.

Hi Jane. You probably don't remember me. I went to Berklee in 95. You were my guitar instructor. I was nicknamed "Oregon Ron", as I was one of the only 2 people from Oregon at the time. You were a fantastic coach, and I really enjoyed learning from you. It was a nice break from all the "testosterone" that most of my co guitar players at that damn school seemed to think was necessary to play the guitar "right". Your music, as always, sounds fantastic. I didn't know you studied with Emily Remler!! I love her. She was awesome.

Your query re acoustic players, I just now noticed, was from October, two years ago, but here goes...some of my faves:
Wayne Johnson (West Coast guy has at least two solo acoustic albums. Wow!);
Paul Meyers (under-the-radar NYC guy);
Jack Jezzro (has at least one album of standards - nice!);
Gene Bertoncini (Everyone knows Gene, and from the evidence of his just released cd with Ronnie Ben-Hur, he is open to collaborating with other guitarists.)
Tommy Emmanuel (everybody's favorite youtube fingerpicker)
Scotty Anderson (Cincinatti cat, 'Country jazz' Tele player, but Chet devotee, too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfBSIe3SKdE - Are You From Dixie?
And, of course Ralph Towner, Earl Klugh, and Pat.

Is there acoustic guitar on any of your albums?
Thanks,
Larry G

Dear Jane,
I was in a music store in Saratoga, NY recently, and had to ask who the guitarist was that they had playing on a cd in the store. "Jane Miller. She works out of Boston, I think.", said the clerk. Filed that one into the ol' memory bank. I sure liked what I heard.

I've been listening a lot to 'The Other Room' recently, 'Transformations' is such a great composition, I love the flow and mood of it - it's inspirational.
Thanks,
Simon.

Hi Jane, I took private lessons from you at Berklee back 98 or so, you were a piece of sanity and humanity in that "noodle shop". Just stopping thru to see what you've been up to, the last stuff on here sounds great. I'm scraping out a living with music out here in Illinois still. Just wanted to say thanks for what you taught me, and its good to see you floating around the web, have a good one ! - jaik

hi lawrence,
thanks for your note. i have written a few pieces for the mel bay website and also for acoustic guitar magazine. both have web sites with back issues available to check out the lessons and music. i also have a songbook, which is a book of lead sheets of the music from my group's recording, "the other room." i have not written classical music specifically, but i have written many chord solos for guitar in jazz and popular styles. i have enjoyed playing some of jorge morel's compositions for guitar from his book published by mel bay. you might enjoy that, too.

Hi Jane --
Thanks for sharing "Gratitude" in cyberspace. The contrast between the melodious consistency of the opening segment with the flourish at the break (1:31 min - 1:47 min) was a nice ear tickler. The return to the refrain after the break was nice too -- I imagine the solo player might indeed feel gratitude upon achieving safe passage across the neck through that challenging break.

As for putting these things on the net -- what a great way to get feedback. And what a generous way to let your visitors observe your creative process -- it recalls glass blowers and potters who craft in plain view of the touring public. I hope you keep it up. Cheers. JET

P.S.: If you can dampen the volume on the applause at the end, that would be cool. It's such a mellow tune that the clapping and howling rains in like sonic hail at the end -- a bit jarring, but, hey, if it has to stay, it's no big deal.

I was googleling myself and found your site. I am a HUGE acoustic guitar and jazz fan. You have a great sound and I will tell my friends request your songs on our jazz radio station.
Do you ever come to Texas? I live in the burbs of Houston, but we travel all over, my daughter is in school in Austin. We are going to New York this fall.
Great music!
